One of our clients have asked if we know of any students that need some work experience and would like to help out at lambing time. They have 600 ewes to lamb indoors. For more details ring us at the surgery on 01873 840167.

Staff News

Some of you might have already met our locum TB tester Stefan Craus. He's Romanian and this is his first job in the UK, but his English is very good and seems to be settling well. He enjoys climbing and hill walking and is very good at map reading!

Dog Microchipping

We hosted a very successful microchipping day in conjunction with the Dogs Trust. 145 dogs were chipped on February 2nd the majority of which belonged to our clients. It will be a legal requirement to have all dogs microchipped from April this year, so if you missed this day and would like us to host another one please let us know as we will do so if there is enough demand.

Free Microchipping Day

It will soon be compulsory for all dogs to be microchipped and to help you comply with this we have invited the Dog's Trust to hold a Free Microchipping day at the practice. As a result the Dog's Trust Campaigns Team will be here at Farm First Vets on Tuesday 2nd February from 11am to 3.30pm to microchip any dogs that are brought along on the day. You do not need to make an appointment, just turn up with your dog(s).

Update on the Charity Challenge

On Wednesday 29th July along with staff from Tyndale & Belmont Vets we successfully completed 10 miles in a canoe down the River Wye without anyone falling in!!

On Monday 31st August the ladies from the practice completed the horse ride. Special mention should go to Tracy who endured the whole ride on a jogging horse. She has not ridden in recent years, so came into the office the next morning walking like a cross between John Wayne & Clint Eastwood! Rob was relieved we all stayed on and has agreed to run a half marathon for the miles he didn't do on a horse.

Winter Herd Health Check Meeting

In conjunction with Farming Connect ,we held a Winter Herd Health Check meeting on 9th December, which was very well attended. Topics discussed included BVD control, liver fluke and Cattle Health schemes. If you missed the meeting, but would like to know more about any of these subjects, please ring us at the office on 01873 840167.
